Career Advancement Grant Applications now being accepted

DENVER – Tues., Feb. 11, 2014 – Colorado Creative Industries (CCI) is now accepting online applications for the 2014-2015 Career Advancement program grants. These grants support Colorado creative entrepreneurs and artists to help stimulate their commercial creative business, helping to increase revenue and new audiences.

“Colorado ranks 5th in the nation among all states for concentration of artists, and the creative industries contribute over 185,000 jobs in Colorado,” said Margaret Hunt, director of CCI. “Career Advancement grants support creative workers and give them the competitive edge they need to take their career or business to the next level.”

Grant awards range from $500-$2,500 and require a 1:1 cash match. Funds are paid on a reimbursement basis. There are two deadlines for grant applications:
* March 15, 2014 for activity between May 1, 2014 – April 30, 2015
* Nov. 15, 2014 for activity between Jan. 1, 2015 – Dec. 30, 2015

To distribute support broadly throughout the creative industries, each grant cycle will focus on one or more specific industries. Although projects in all creative industry areas are eligible to apply, additional points will be awarded to applicants in the strategic priority areas identified. The following industries are the 2014-2015 strategic priorities: Music, Literary and Publishing, and Design Arts.

Grant requests are reviewed through a competitive process by CCI staff. Applicants must demonstrate artistic merit, career impact and sound budget.
