The green cat is a studio for Steph and Joe Brady. Joe does the stone sculptures and the wood. Steph does the paintings, glass, jewelry, t-shirts, tea towels and well everything else. They have been in Salida for almost 30 years but had a studio back in Kansas years before.
Joe started with wood back in the 70’s and added the stone in the 80s and has been doing both ever since. Steph started the glass back in the 70’s. She started fusing and sandblasting in 1980. She started the paintings in the 80’s as well. They both send their work all over the world. The studio is truly a husband and wife team.
The building that the green cat is in is a building that was built in the late 1800’s. The green cat is located in Salida’s historical district. It was the old hose house. It has the old metal ceilings. The building has been many things over the years but has been the home of the green cat for the last 24 years. It is Steph’s 2nd home where she produces most of her art. The building is warm inviting and full of one of a kind art that is different than most.
