Walden Chamber Music Concert
On Sunday, November 27th, Walden Chamber Music Society will open its 2016-2017 concert season by welcoming our new musician, cellist Matt Zalkind, Assistant Professor at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music; violinist Mark Rush; violist Matt Diekman; percussionist Rachel Hargroder; and pianist Jo Boatright.
Music
The concert opens with Conversation Piece for viola and vibraphone (1975) by Victoria Bond, followed by Mariel for cello and marimba by composer Osvaldo Goliijov. The last piece before intermission is Varied Trio for violin, piano, and percussion (1987) by Lou Harrison.
For the second half of our program we present Piano Quartet in C Minor, Op. 15 for violin, viola, cello, and piano by Gabriel Fauré.
Informance
Prior to the 3:00 p.m. concert, Ms. Boatright will give a thirty-minute “informance” beginning at 2:00 p.m., during which she will explain and demonstrate the music to be performed.
Tickets
Tickets are $15 for adults and free for students.
Tickets are available on the Walden website here, at the SteamPlant Box Office, the Salida and Buena Vista Chambers of Commerce, and at the door prior to the concert. Free student tickets are also available at the door.
