“Valley Visions” art exhibition Grand Opening Gala is May 1

The popular annual “Valley Visions” art exhibition, sponsored by Salida Council for the Arts, will kick off with a gala Grand Opening reception on Friday, May 1 from 4-7 pm in the SteamPlant Annex.  The public is invited as well as all area artists and art collectors; and a $5 suggested donation helps fund the Council’s local student scholarship program.

Known as a showcase for the area’s top creative talent, the exhibit will feature forty of the Arkansas River Valley’s most innovative artists.  Admission to the Gala entitles ticket-holders to a banquet of gourmet hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment, cash bar, “meet the artist” opportunities, and a ballot for the coveted People’s Choice Awards.  Award winners will be announced at the reception’s conclusion; and will receive cash and/or merchandise prizes in addition to Award Certificates.

Artists admitted to this year’s show are Joanie Barbier, Robert Birney, William Boddy, Cary Carlson, Carol Cartwright, Leah Cerise, Andy Davison, Shea Donovan, Linda Gibas, Fay Golson, Beth Grimes, Christine Hallett, Jean Hanfelt, Judith Hilmer, Ginny Holzwarth, Sue Ann Hum, Dvora Kanegis, Sue Keyes, Jim Marshall, Sally Mather, Rosamonde McAtee, Padgett McFeely, Taylor McKinnon, Brad Price, John Russell, Windy Selig, Lasha Siegle, Jude’ Silva, Rick Smith, Roberta Smith, Susan Spohn, Lori Tatum, Sibyl Teague, Gilmore VanStone, Jo Venditelli, John Vidulich, Donna Wagle, Candice Weber, Stephen Witty, and Mary Hansen Wolfe.

“The amazing quality of this year’s entries proves once again that Salida is indeed The Biggest Little Art Town in Colorado”, says SCFTA President Lisa Marvel.  The Valley Visions exhibition attracts many of the area’s leading painters, sculptors, photographers and artisans; and all entries are available for sale on a “first-come” basis.  The show will remain on display through May 30.  For more information, visit salidacouncilforthearts.org
