The annual Summit will bring more than 300 artist-entrepreneurs, owners of creative sector businesses, nonprofit & municipal cultural workers and emerging creatives to Salida.
This year’s theme, ‘Creative Convergence,’ is focused around the concept of collective impact and will explore ways to coordinate efforts and work toward the common goal of building a strong and vibrant creative community in Colorado. In addition to free one-on-one counseling with the Colorado Small Business Development Network, a full range of workshops covering creative entrepreneurship, creative communities, and arts innovation tracks will be offered.
Thursday evening, May 1st is an opportunity for businesses to participate in a special open house/artwalk for Summit attendees. The Salida Creative District encourages downtown businesses and galleries to remain open from 6:00 -10:00 p.m. on May 1st. This is an opportunity to showcase all that Salida has to offer in terms of art, small business and a welcoming community. During the special Creative District open house Chaffee Shuttle will be running from the SteamPlant to attendees’ hotels and motels. The shuttle will leave the SteamPlant every half hour (on the half hour) from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Renowned singer, songwriter, cellist and pianist Ian Cooke (http://www.iancookemusic.com/) along with producer Ian O’Dougherty and animator Adam Singer, will deliver the keynote address at the Summit. Cooke has appeared in SPIN magazine, finished first in the Denver Post’s 2009 Music Poll, and has been voted Best Avant-Pop for three years by Westword Magazine. Session topics include guerrilla marketing, creative placemaking, public art, funding resources and more. There will also be a panel of the Artplace America (http://www.artplaceamerica.org/ ) grantees from Colorado: Wonderbound, Ohheckyeah and The Loveland Feed & Grain.
Additionally, during the Summit the Chaffee Shuttle has generously donated the use of two shuttles so that attendees can easily access their hotels and motels and attend conference sessions throughout downtown.
The CCI Summit is a meaningful way for businesses and organizations to engage with their local communities as well as state efforts to enhance creative industries.
