Salida Aspen Concerts opens its 41st season this Saturday, July 8, with violinist William Hagen and pianist Orion Weiss playing some of the best-loved music from several eras:

  • Mozart’s violin sonata in B-flat major K.454
  • Schubert’s “Rondo Brilliant”
  • Cesar Franck’s famed Sonata in A major

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. at Salida High School auditorium.  Tickets at the door, $15.00.  The pre-concert talk begins at 6:45 p.m.

William Hagen, 23, has already played twice at Salida Aspen Concerts. He was the third-place winner of the 2015 Queen Elizabeth Competition — the highest-ranking American since 1985.

Orion Weiss played in Salida two years ago with pianist Shai Wosner in piano-four hands and two-piano works. They got one of the loudest standing ovations in our history. He has soloed with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and New York Philharmonic, among many great aggregations.
