October Creative Mixer @ The SteamPlant’s Paquette Gallery
ART EXHIBITION – Laura Donovan
MUSIC by Mark M. Rostenko
The monthly Creative Mixer is a popular social evening hosted by the Salida Council for the Arts, with the support of the Creative District and the SteamPlant Event Center. The Creative Mixer is held every second Thursday in the SteamPlant’s Paquette Gallery. In October, the Mixer is on the 13th, from 5:30 to 7:00. Everyone is most welcome! Bring the neighbors, your family and friends, and participate. Meet new artists, local residents or visitors, and chat with Council members about current projects.
The Creative Mixer offers free munchies, a chance to study the current art show at the Paquette gallery, listen to news about upcoming artistic activities and, of course, socialize with your friends, new and old. There will be a cash bar offering liquid creativity, too.
Entrepreneur Laura Donavan shows her artwork this month at the Creative Mixer. A woman of diverse talents, Donovan and her husband have based their graphic arts business in Salida since 2000. They have also created a baby toy, which they’re currently working on bringing to market. Donovan says her current SteamPlant art show “is a little love letter to animals and children, shadows and airplanes. It’s inspired by all the extraordinary artists who live and work in Salida, and it was fun to get back to an easel and away from the computer. I plan to keep the paints out, because nothing makes my day quite like a lop-eared rabbit on a strider bike.”
October’s featured musical artist is award-winning Indie singer-songwriter, Mark M. Rostenko. Rostenko is a Wall Street escapee, who has been recovering from the frantic business world in a remote mountain cabin above Cotopaxi, writing songs and playing his guitar.
Take a break from your winterizing projects and join the Salida Council for the Arts for a soft, friendly night of Mixing. October evenings are so lovely next to the river and attending the Creative Mixer can be your favorite way to infuse and absorb the Sweet Salida Vibe.
