Creative Monday Business Education Series Returns September 15 with “The Business of Art”
Bobbi Walker, founder and owner of Walker Fine Art in Denver will teach “The Business of Art” Creative Monday. The class is ideal for emerging artists, mid-career artists, art professionals, and art business owners/entrepreneurs who want to define or refine a long term professional strategy for your art career or business. The class will be held Monday, September 15 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the SteamPlant, 220 W. Sackett Ave., Salida.
Bobbi will cover topics including: learning about the industry, defining your personal and professional goals and costs, how to develop a national network of galleries, market evaluation, and the gallery submission process including building your portfolio, the interview and contract as well as curating an exhibit.

And you can look forward to the October class, which will be a photography class on Monday, October 13, being taught by Salida photographer Wiley Middleton; the class on Monday, November 10 will be all about social media featuring a lesson on Pinterest and Instagram, with CMC social media coordinator Lauren Swanson. About Bobbi: Bobbi Walker founded Walker Fine Art in 1999, and opened the gallery space in June 2002. She has been actively involved in the arts community in Denver for the last 15 years. In 2012 Bobbi was appointed to the Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs and is currently serving her 3rd year as a commissioner. She is a Young Associates level member of the Denver Art Museum (DAM), and on the Board of the DAM Contemporaries. She is a member of the DAM Culture Haus, Design Council and Asian Art Associations. She is a Heart Club member of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA) and on the membership committee. She is a 1944 Society level member of the Clyfford Still Museum, and on the membership committee. She was President of the Denver Art Dealers Association (DADA) for 3 years, and is currently an active member. She has served on the boards of the Golden Triangle Museum District (GTMD) and the Golden Triangle Neighborhood Association (GTA), and is currently a member of both organizations. She is a member of the Colorado Business Community for the Arts (CBCA), Arts for Colorado, Visit Denver, Redline, the Downtown Denver Partnership and the Denver Film Society.
The Salida Creative District was formed to support the ongoing economic growth in Salida and to create a climate in which artists, creatives and creative enterprises can thrive. Keeping with this mission, the Salida Creative District created the free Creative Mondays business education class series in October 2013. Featured topics have ranged from business plans to marketing and website development; the focus is on teaching business and marketing skills to help businesses thrive and grow.
