Call for Artists exhibition honoring the Colorado Capitol Dome
Colorado Creative Industries (CCI) is seeking Colorado-based artists to participate in an exhibition celebrating the restoration and unveiling of the Colorado State Capitol building dome. Selected works will be on display at the Colorado State Capitol complex, including the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, the basement rotunda and the Joint Budget Committee room, from Oct. 2014-March 2015.
Restoration on the cast iron structure of the Capitol’s dome started in 2010 and will be re-dedicatedOct. 2, 2014. The restoration funds were appropriated through the General Assembly as well as through Coloradans who participated in the “Share in the Care Colorado” campaign, managed by Colorado Preservation, Inc. The completed project restored deteriorated portions of the cast iron dome structure, replaced the copper panels that make-up the gold gilded dome, and restored windows and the observation deck.
