The BLM and USFS thanks citizens for their interest and involvement in the Browns Canyon National Monument Management Planning. BLM and USFS conducted public listening sessions in Fall 2016 to gather people’s views, significant places, and values to help guide monument management for the next 20 years.

BLM and USFS will present an independent draft report of public values and the Browns Canyon National Monument on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 3:30pm-5:30pm at the Salida Steam Plant (Ballroom), 220 West Sacket Ave, Salida, CO, 81201

•    The results presented will be a summary of important public values gathered by the USFS PNW Research Station, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, and the Consensus Building Institute as developed with the BLM National Operations Center and compiled during participatory mapping and stakeholder listening sessions in Fall 2016.

•    BLM and the USFS will ask for public review and validation of the information to be presented to see if the agencies adequately captured the public’s views, values, and vision for the forthcoming Browns Canyon National Monument Management Plan – EIS process.

•    From April to June 2017, the public is invited to engage in a collaborative process to identify relevant baseline information and local knowledge to be considered for the assessment and development of the Browns Canyon National Monument management plan.

•    The agencies are asking the public to share and identify other high quality information and best available scientific information that describe the ecological, social and economic conditions to inform the Browns Canyon National Monument Management Plan development.
