Artist Call for 2019 Mini Masterpiece Auction
Canvases are now being given to area artists who will donate a small piece of artwork to the 2019 Salida Art Walk “Mini Masterpiece” Auction. Beatrice Price has readied the canvas pick-up at First Colorado Land Office, and says “up to two canvases per artist may be picked up through May 1st.”
As one of the most highly anticipated, annual, local art events, the Mini Masterpiece Auction offers a fun and creative way for artists to directly support Salida Art Walk. Submitting artists enjoy having their work seen by the numerous attendees of the Friday night preview and Saturday auction.
During this true
highlight of Art Walk, the Salida SteamPlant Event Center Annex roars to
life on Saturday with crowds of Art Walk guests vying to outbid each other up
to the last minute of the Auction. Bidding begins at $25 allowing patrons the
chance to buy a treasured work by a Salida artist, at a price that is both
highly affordable and helps produce next year’s Art Walk. In detailing the
buying process, Price says, “People are encouraged to ‘Bid High and
Bid Often.’ Each year, the successful production of Salida Art Walk relies
heavily on the monies raised at the Mini Masterpiece Auction. The 2019
donations will provide the seed money to support Salida Art Walk 2020. A
preview of all the “many Minis” to be auctioned this year will be
held Friday evening of Salida Art Walk, June 28 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The Salida
SteamPlant Event Center Annex. Saturday, June 29 is the* Bid * Pay * Take
Home Today* event, with bidding beginning at 1:00 p.m. and ending promptly at
3:00 p.m. The lucky, winning bidders take their chosen art to one of the
cashiers and then take their new artwork home.”
Emerging and professional area artists may submit 1 to 2 small works of art in
any medium for this auction. Two-dimensional artwork should not exceed
4″ x 6“; three dimensional pieces are welcome and must be 4″ x
4″ x 6” or smaller. Artists may donate either 80% or 100% of the art
sale to support Salida Art Walk. Free 4″ x 4″ or 4″ x
6″ canvases may be picked up at Colorado Land office 202 N. F St., Salida,
between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday until May 1st. A
Submission Form must accompany each piece of art available at https://salidaartwalk.org/mini-masterpiece/.
Each artwork with its completed submission form, is to be turned in to First
Colorado Land Office the week of June 3-8. For further information about
